Shon Agustin is an independent filmmaker and Assistant Professor of Media Arts at The City University of New York. They are currently working on several film projects, including “Finding Bernie,” a documentary currently in production about their search for trans and non-binary historical figures. Shon discovered the work of Reverend Debra J. Hopkins while researching the impact of trans-exclusionary laws on people experiencing homelessness in the United States. Inspired by her work, Shon has sought to leverage their video skills to help raise awareness and funds for There’s Still Hope. They are committed to amplifying the voices of transgender people of color and supporting Debra in her advocacy for social justice.
