Reverend Debra J. Hopkins

            Reverend Debra J. Hopkins is the owner of There’s Still Hope of the Carolinas, LLC.  An inspirational motivational speaker and for several years has become a passionate voice on issues pertaining to the homeless problem in her community. Creating a successful transitional housing program in Charlotte, NC., for trans & non-binary adults experiencing homelessness resulting in assisting 73.85% of its occupants in successfully finding permanent housing. Now through her company, Debra serves as a consultant, and coach-mentor offering workshops to individuals & organizations interested in starting a transitional housing program in their community.

        Prior to TSH of the Carolinas, Debra held various leadership roles. Starting as a research assistant for the brokerage firm Dean Witter Reynolds. After completing her education, she became a language arts and social studies teacher at Lilburn Middle School; followed by a ministerial career that has lasted for over 49 years touching the lives of hundreds.


        Her skills as a communicator, & educator is what makes Debra an inspiring leader. Advocating for safe-affordable housing, and against legislative issues negatively affecting trans & non binary people who are denied access to quality healthcare, safe-affordable housing, education & employment.​ She's also become a frequent speaker at rallies, colleges & universities. Debra has made it her mission to interact effectively with business leaders, government officials and speak to large crowds on subjects affecting the LGBT+ community with the hopes of sparking positive change.


        Earning a Master of Theology degree from New York Theological Seminary, Miss Hopkins is the author of "Not Until You Have Walked In My Shoes” available on and has written 3 anthologies on Stories of Resilience.


        Reverend Hopkins believes words have enormous power, and believes we all can be a voice for change through action, activism, & community engagement. It's from this platform Debra believes we can inspire others to get involved, educate, motivate and offer hope. To exercise their constitutional right to vote and continue to speak out against the injustices affecting our fellow citizens who just want an equal opportunity to live their authentic lives in peace. ​Miss Debra is the proud parent of three adult children, eight grandchildren and a real “Voice for Change.”
